A Note from the CEO

It takes courage to be your authentic self.

Since my arrival at the Morean, I’ve been talking with a lot of folks and thinking a lot about what makes the Morean unique. First and foremost, we are about making art. And while mastering technical skill is important, we offer a place and a space to encourage artistic and creative expression. We offer an environment for both aspiring and accomplished artists to find the courage to express their thoughts and ideas.

Thank you for believing in our work. I hope that you will find both the courage and encouragement you need to express your creative self during the holiday season and throughout the new year.

Happy Holidays,
Michael Killoren

Ethan Stern: Inscribing Surfaces; in partnership with the Traver Gallery (On view through January 31 at the Chihuly Collection) Stern describes his work, “Unlike the cut glass vessels of the past, these sculptures are not vessels designed to hold things but containers to hold light.” Stern’s mark making is a deliberate manipulation of light affecting his artwork. A combination of clear cut glass and colored glass sculptures present this exploration of Stern’s interest into mark making and its expression within the form.
