Why the Morean Arts Center is a Blue Star Museum

Did you know that we live in an area with one of the highest concentration of veterans and military personnel in the US?

All of us here at the Morean Arts Center recognize the enormous sacrifices our friends, neighbors and relatives serving in the armed services make on our behalf.  And we also acknowledge the sacrifices endured by their spouses and children.

Military families face unique challenges, especially as husbands, wives, mothers and fathers face long deployments, extended periods of separation from family, and frequent moves to new locales.

Memorial Day marked the official launch of summer, a time of year when families get together to enjoy the weather, fun activities and travel. We understand that these moments are precious and wanted to give active military and their families an opportunity to experience art together.

From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, during the height of the summer tourist season, we warmly open our doors to all active duty military personnel and their families to the Chihuly Collection, our Hot Shop and our art galleries for free—as a token of our gratitude.

We welcome you and honor your service by sharing the joy and beauty of a shared artistic and cultural experience.  We want to make sure that everyone has the chance to be inspired and discover the artist within.
