6:30pm – 9pm
Skill Level: Intermediate
Winter Session 2 (Feb 28, Mar 7, 14, 21, 28 & April 4)
Discover the moments that tell a story. This introduction to the craft of documentary photography will present a little bit of photo history, newspaper-style assignments, storytelling images, ethics and more. Students will have assignment options to practice new skills–news, sports, feature photos and photo essay. We will see how the visual biography of the world is written by photographers! We will also get out of the classroom for field trips.
You should have good knowledge of your camera in manual mode.
I began photographing for my school newspaper in the 9th grade. Being a photojournalist has been my passion for nearly 30 years. In 1995 I received my MFA in photography from The Hartford Art School.
In 2003, I was selected to be the first Photographer Laureate for the city of Tampa. I love teaching as much as taking photographs and have been combining these loves for over 20 years. Currently I am the Director of Photography at the Morean Arts Center.
