CLAY CAMP (Ages 7-10)
420 22nd St S, St Petersburg FL 33712
On the first two days of camp, campers will work from the theme of the week. Their work then goes off to the kiln to be fired and finishing touches will be added at the end of the week. Students will take home individual projects on Fridays. All ages will also help create art for our community, to be displayed in places such as All Children's Hospital and along The Pinellas Trail. Campers will learn the hand building techniques of pinch, coil, and slab. Please note that wheel-throwing is not covered in 7-10 year old camp--wheel-throwing begins at age 11 in our teen clay camp--your 7-10 year olds can expect to have lots of hand building fun!
*Please wear sunblock as campers will be outside for part of the day.*
First Night Puppet-Making: On Wednesdays of each week, all clay campers will contribute to a large-scale puppet-making project. Completed puppets will be featured in St Petersburg's First Night Parade on December 31, 2017!
On the Trail! Clay campers get early experience in creating public art. Every week, classes collaborate to create large, themed art works to hang on the Pinellas Trail where it passes the Morean Center for Clay.
Wacky Wednesday! Every Wednesday: Dress silly! Wacky hair! Good old-fashioned fun.
15 children per classroom, with 1 lead teacher and teenage volunteers.
