Please check back for future dates
Skill Level: All Levels
In this 2-day course, students will be able to create an original miniature painting with the instruction of Marium Rana, who is featured in the Morean Arts Center’s “Fresh Squeezed” exhibition (March 11-April 30, 2017). Marium has studied Mughal miniature painting in Lahore, Pakistan.
This is a rare opportunity to learn about the materials and techniques of both traditional and modern miniature painters. This course is open to both beginners and advanced painting students. Prepare for a fully immersive experience! We will be working with tea, sea shells, wooden boards, gouache (opaque watercolor), gold, and the smallest paint brushes available to create these works of art. Be prepared to take off your shoes, sit down on the carpet, and dive it. Table and chairs will be provided as an alternative.
Limited to 8 students.

-Metallic gold gouache or acrylic gold paint
-Light wooden board or cardboard (to place in lap to work on)
-1 Black tea bag
-2 or 3 tiny paint brushes (smallest brushes possible, ex: 20/0)

“My current series, A Place to Call Home, delves into the complexity of belonging to two different cultures and trying to make a home out of stories of places and moments one has not personally experienced. The paintings depict landscapes that do not exist in our tangible world and seem as imaginary as the places that have existed before us.”
