“I have had a long and varied history with the (now Morean) Arts Center of St. Petersburg. I started taking pottery classes at the Arts Center in 1979. “There were two staff members when I started my involvement. I soon took a position as the first Volunteer Coordinator and then later I was the first Education Director. I last worked there in 1993, but maintained close ties. “When I began my initial association, the pottery studio was in the back room and it regularly broke down the air conditioning system for the whole building. Under Evelyn Craft’s outstanding direction, the little old Arts Center was transformed into the big new Morean Arts Center. But ever since the beginning of the Art Club, there has been a love of the arts, a camaraderie amongst the participants, a promotion of arts and artists, and art education available for the whole community through this organization. St. Petersburg is indeed fortunate to have this wonderful resource.”
