Great News About Our Future!

dale chihuly and his work (photo by jan cook)

By now, you may have heard the news: the Arts Center has entered into a unique and wonderful agreement with local developer and arts supporter Jimmy Aviram and world-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly.

In what could serve as a future model for the revitalization of cultural districts around the world, Aviram, Chihuly, and the Arts Center have forged a unique agreement blending philanthropy, arts education, and real estate development. The Chihuly Collection at the Arts Center will be a 6,000 s.f. permanent exhibition space dedicated to the work of Dale Chihuly and will include similar work to the dramatic installations that have made him famous around the world.

This arts-anchored residential and retail development will also feature a newly expanded, state-of-the-art expansion for the Arts Center, including a glassblowing hot shop for public demonstrations, classes, and workshops.

Gallery space will triple and all studio spaces will be enhanced to best meet our instructors' and students' needs.

Fueled in part by both Jimmy Aviram's and Dale Chihuly's long-standing commitment to arts education, and their belief in the value of art as a community builder, the agreement between Chihuly, Aviram and the Arts Center provides unparalleled opportunities for collaborative educational programming to reach greater and greater segments of our community, as well as it establishes dedicated earned income sources to assure the Center's future viability.
