More than 300 guests turn out for 19th annual ‘Word & Image’ High School Art Exhibition Awards Jan. 23

ST. PETERSBURG – The 19th annual installment of the “Word & Image” High School Exhibition featured 70 young and talented artists from throughout Pinellas County. More than 150 students submitted artwork for the exhibition. An awards reception at Morean Arts Center was attended by more than 300 guests Saturday (January 23).

“This is one of the most important programs we have each year and it’s so much fun for us at Morean Arts Center to see the young artists light up when they see their work professionally framed and showcased in a major gallery setting,” says Amanda Cooper, curator of exhibitions at Morean Arts Center. “We had another very strong turnout for this year’s exhibition and the awards reception again honored some of the best young artists from right here in Pinellas County.”

Word & Image is the only Arts and Literacy program in the entire county. The

boys and girls middle schoolers submit sculpture and 2-D art for the annual

exhibition, currently on display with Free Admission through Feb. 7 at Morean

Arts Center, 719 Central Avenue, downtown St. Petersburg. This year’s theme was “Imagine That!”
