“Printmaking Without A Press” workshop March 5-616 Feb 2016, Posted by Classes, Community, Press Releases in
ST. PETERSBURG – Renowned Connecticut-based artist Suzanne Benton invented her “Printmaking Without A Press” workshop six years when she was asked by the famous Arts Students League in New York City to teach students who didn’t have access to a press machine.
“Necessity is the mother of invention and the workshop has been a great success ever since because many art students don’t have access to presses,” Benton said recently as she gears up for her annual two-day Master Artist Print Workshop session at Morean Arts Center, March 5-6.
It’s not often printmaking lovers get to learn from an artist as renowned as Benton, who is a resident artist at Harvard University, a longtime teacher at the Arts Students League and has traveled to 38 countries during her career to teach and create all mediums of art.
“This workshop has become a favorite over the years to many of our members and winter visitors,” says Morean Arts Center Education Coordinator Gretchen Suding. “Suzanne is a wonderful teacher and students are able to practice printmaking without a press forever after this workshop.”
