Saturdays @ the Morean resumes August 13!
FREE Hands-on art activities for children ages 5-10
St. Petersburg, Fla. – Saturdays @ the Morean, a FREE family drop-in art studio hosted by the Morean Arts Center, resumes its annual programming this weekend. Starting August 13 through the school year, weekly themed offerings are available for children ages 5-10 years old and their families (parents and/or guardians are required to stay with the child).
Saturdays @ the Morean is a themed, instructor based program funded generously with the help of Bank of America, Duke Energy Foundation, Publix Super Markets Charities, Pinellas Community Foundation and the Rotary Club of St. Petersburg. Children are able to take home art projects led by talented professional teaching artists, 10AM-4PM weekly (closed 12PM-12:30PM for lunch).
This week’s theme led by instructor Sherri Lundquist: Paint it! Stamp it! Express Yourself! Saturdays @ the Morean is located in the Bank of America Children’s Learning Center Classroom: Morean Arts Center, 719 Central Avenue, Downtown St. Petersburg.
“Children’s art education and more importantly a child’s access to art is at the core of our mission at the Morean Arts Center” stated Interim CEO Roger Ross. “Saturdays and Sundays @ the Morean are amazing programs which grant all participants access to high quality art education at no cost, and in different areas of the St. Petersburg community, allowing children from all over the city to participate,” Ross continued.
Sundays @ the Morean will also resume August 14 after a very successful first year. Sundays @ the Morean focuses on multiple mediums and is hosted at the Morean Center for Clay located in the Warehouse Arts District. Weekly free themed art activities, geared toward children ages 5-15 years old, are offered from 1PM-3PM with teaching artist Heather Tinnaro located at 420 22nd Street South.
Weekly themes and additional details on the program can be found online at MoreanArtsCenter.org or by calling 727.822.7872 ext. 8.
