A Note from the CEO
It’s hard to imagine St. Petersburg with a population of only 7,000 people. You’d have to go back to 1917 – and that’s when a handful of civic leaders drew a line in the sand to form what has evolved over the years into the Morean Arts Center.
One hundred years later, the Morean is thriving, welcoming more than 130,000 people to the four buildings that make up our campus.
Over the past several months, we’ve invited visitors to 719 Central to “Tell Your Morean Story” by drawing, writing and posting in words and images what the Morean means to them. It’s been fascinating to see hundreds of people of all ages and abilities share their thoughts, their ideas and their stories. It’s clear to anyone looking at this display, that there’s a whole lotta love for the Morean, as the heart and soul of the arts and artists in our community.
More than 1,200 people are currently Morean members – and growing. Our members provide important financial support to keep the Morean hopping, and help support a multitude of free community programs. Membership continues to grow as folks discover the many advantages and values that membership brings! If you’re already a member, thank you! If not, please consider joining today and becoming more involved with us.
Thank you, and I hope to see you at our upcoming Holiday Show – please say hello! And while you’re here, please tell us YOUR story!
