This is the 5th annual Florida Heat Surface at the Morean Center for Clay. Join Linda Sikora, Mike Helke, Michael Hunt, Naomi Dalglish, Peter and Lori Pincus, Shoko Teruyama, Ben Carter and Adam Field in sunny St. Petersburg Florida at the Morean Center for Clay, as we welcome eight of the country’s leading ceramic artists to demonstrate their talents and approaches to designing a well-thought-out pottery surface. This workshop will cover all firing ranges and surface approaches, including but not limited to: glazing, slips, underglaze, decals, scraffito, mishima, and much more. This will be THE workshop of the year and you won’t want to miss it! Cost for the whole workshop is $350 or choose individual days and pay only $150 per day.

Printmaking Without a Press with Suzanne Benton
2-Day Workshop

Saturday & Sunday, February 10 & 11, 2018
10am-4:30pm each day

Students learn, experiment and practice printmaking-without-a-press using inking, line, painterly, and stencil techniques to create a series of monoprints. We use oil-based etching inks and printmaking plates made of Plexiglas and acetate. Stencil-raised plates can be fixed or re-positioned for multi-colored prints with and without registration. Available and easy to make tools will work the pressure. Chine collé will be taught. Picasso’s rinsed prints technique will be discussed. Teaching methods feature demonstrations, examples of hand pressed prints, and dialogue with and between students. Students create a variety of prints and gain an abiding knowledge of printmaking.

Woodburning Art Workshopwith Rachel Stewart

Offered:
Saturday & Sunday, February 24 & 25. 10am-4pm each day.

Students will learn the techniques of wood burning. They will use a special tool and wood to create an image. Acrylic paint will also be used to create color over the burning textures.
