A Note from the CEO

Not everything that can be counted, counts. And not everything that counts can be counted.
Albert Einstein

When we crunch the numbers, last year’s level of activity at the Morean was quite impressive: We provided 15,949 hours of arts instruction to 8,315 people – that’s the equivalent of 664 days! These numbers tell me we’re very busy – and although we’re proud of this metric, the most important measure of what we do is the most difficult to quantify.

More difficult to measure are those moments when a young person discovers the artist within him or herself, or when an artist makes an important discovery, or has a breakthrough “Aha!” moment during class or during studio time, or the act of courage that it takes to try something new. These personal moments are the core impact of our work.

We believe the arts transform lives and our community, and we thank you for your belief in our mission and for joining us on that journey.

For Fresh Squeezed, we encourage artists to break boundaries, to think of ways their work can create a dialog in our community, our region, in our wild, wacky, wonderful state.
