The Morean Arts Center, the region’s oldest community arts center, has re-opened their free galleries on Central Avenue and Morean Center for Clay at 420 22nd Street South in St. Petersburg. In January the Pelican, amazing, sometimes awkward, and omnipresent was designated the official bird of the City of St. Petersburg. “Pelican Proud” an exhibition opening Saturday, June 13 at the Morean Arts Center, will also celebrate the shorebird becoming a symbol of our community’s resiliency. Over 40 local artists responded with art works executed on canvas, mixed media, photography and clay.

The Free galleries of the Morean Arts Center are open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday thru Saturday, and from 12 noon to 5 pm on Sundays. In addition to purchasing exhibited artwork, visitors may purchase locally made art in the Morean Arts Center Gift Shop.
