The return of Morean Glass Studio artist demos in the hot shop: Wednesday, July 15

The Morean Glass Studio announced that their glass artists will be hosting demonstrations in the hot shop beginning Wednesday, July 15. The Morean Glass studio is operating on a summer schedule, Wednesdays to Saturdays the shop is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Sundays, the shop is open from 12 noon to 5 pm.

The glass blowing demonstrations are included in the Chihuly Collection ticketed experience. The hot shop observation area has been adusted with bleacher seating space reduced to comply with social distancing and other COVID-19 precautions. The glass artists will be working on an exciting architectural glass art project scheduled to be installed in an Ybor City boutique hotel, Haya, designed by Alfonso Architects. Visitors will be able to listen to a narrated tour and see architectural renderings of the artworks to enhance their experience in the hot shop.

The Chihuly Collection admission ticket also includes access to the public gallery spaces of the Morean Arts Center currently featuring the solo exhibitions of Barry Goodman and Quinton Merada, as well as the Annual Morean Members exhibition 20 x 20.  The Morean Arts Center also has a shop area featuring locally made gifts and art. The Morean Arts Center is also open from 10 am to 5 pm Mondays thru Saturdays and from 12 noon to 5 pm on Sundays.

Morean Center for Clay, featuring the ceramic art of over 50 artists with working studios in the 1926 Seaboard Train Depot building is open Thursdays thru Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm. The shelves between the working studios display artist made pieces ranging from ceramic bowls and mugs to sculptures. The gallery space is currently featuring Green green grass, an exhibition of boundary testing ceramic art by Danny Dobrow.

The Morean requires all guests and employees to wear masks and masks are provided if needed. The buildings are sanitized and cleaned throughout the day and electrostatic fogging is used as an additional layer of precaution.

The Chihuly Collection has also introduced a new small group tour option in response to community interests. Limited to 6 participants, the small groups enjoy a private docent guided tour.  Reservations may be made at groupsales@moreanartscenter.org.
