In a creative and collaborative effort to engage customers the Chihuly Collection of St. Petersburg is partnering with locally-owned Schakolad Chocolate Factory on the 400 block of Central Avenue to offer a really sweet deal. Chihuly Collection ticket holders can share their receipt when visiting Schakolad and enjoy a 10 percent discount on deluxe confections made by hand in the corner chocolate boutique. Visitors who wish to linger in the shop can sip on exquisite blends of coffee and chocolate in Lates and beverages available hot or poured over ice.
Visitors to Schakolad Chocolate Factory can likewise share their chocolate receipt at the Chihuly Collection to earn a 10 percent discount on admissions to the sparkling museum of contemporary American glass art. The Chihuly gift shop is also keeping a selection of custom packaged chocolates on their gift shop shelves.
The Morean and Schakolad Chocolate Factory are collaborating to encourage community members to ‘buy local’ and support the safe re-emergence of downtown St. Petersburg businesses and services.
Jane Rakestraw, Schakolad owner and Darryn Rakestraw, her daughter and the manager, are currently working with the Chihuly Collection on the design of Chihuly Art wrapped chocolate bars. “We are excited to partner with the Morean and Chihuly Collection on a social media opportunity engage the local community in designing custom-flavored chocolates that reflect the colors and energy of the art in the Collection,” said Rakestraw. “Will people who have seen the collection think that the red glass in a particular art piece inspires a cherry or cranberry addition? Does the shape of pieces in the ‘Macchia Forest’ suggest the edge of a potato chip or do ‘Seaforms’ remind people of walnuts? It promises to be a fun adventure that makes art truly accessible,” added Rakestraw.
“We look forward to sharing the opportunity for the community to help us in designing custom flavors for chocolates inspired by the Chihuly Collection this winter,” added Affan. “It is a really sweet way to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Chihuly being part of the arts-loving community of St. Petersburg.”
The social media campaign is scheduled to launch November 1, with flavor combinations selected by popular vote of the community to be available for Holiday Gift Giving Season.
