Workshops: the perfect creative art experience for busy minds and stressful lives

“Wait, what did you say? Could you repeat that?”

These days it is common for concentration and inspiration to be in short supply, but the intrepid art instructors at the Morean have the perfect solution.

With creative offerings that range from the whimsy of    painting pumpkins to the intensity of focus required for personal glass experiences, the Morean has scheduled a robust series of art workshops. In just two hours on Saturday, October 10, participants can master the fundamentals of metal smithing and skills essential to jewelry making while making charming bugs out of silverware. If a three-weeks of a couple of hours away from the television on a Saturday afternoon schedule is appealing, you can make a fused-glass skeleton wind-chime to create bone rattling fun just in time for Halloween!

With classrooms and studio spaces at the Morean Center for Clay in the heart of the warehouse district, and the Morean Arts Center in downtown St. Pete adhering to all current safety practices, sofa-sitting weary adults can explore new mediums like clay or resin. The Morean is also offering special workshops for Teens. In a two-hour class they can craft an eerie collage or make a handmade book.

There is also a rotating schedule of online workshops for all ages and interests.

The Morean continues to adjust to community request for creative experiences that are essential to well-being. An exciting new line-up of classes scheduled over 3 and 6-weeks will begin the week of October 26th. Students who are currently enrolled in Jewelry or Painting classes may take advantage of Open Studio times. The Photography studio is available by appointment only to prior or current photography program students. Complete details can be found at the Education section of the Morean Arts Center website.

As we transition to new rhythms of school schedules and shorter hours of daylight, it is the perfect time to restore your creative soul through art experiences. Workshops allow the greatest flexibility in restoring your focus on personal well-being and creativity. They are also a great way to spend time with friends and family while following social distancing protocols.
