ONLINE: Teen Zine with Emily Stone
Tuesdays, 6 classes
Fall Session 2 (Oct 29, Nov 5, 12, 19, Dec 3, 10)
(Please Note: There will be NO CLASSES Nov 25th, 26th, and 27th.
Classes scheduled to meet those days will have a make-up class at the end of the session.)
Students will learn about the history of the zine, also known as a handmade
magazine or pamphlet, how to fold and make different types of zines, and the diverse functions of a zine. Zines will be presented to the teens as a flexible tool to express themselves, which includes but is not limited to creative expression, sharing information, and conveying emotion or experiences. Zines will be presented as an empowering tool to create positive change in the world through self-expression. Examples of finished zines will be provided to show the range and flexibility of this medium. We will utilize a range of art supplies to decorate our zines, such as markers, stamps, and collage materials.
